It requires adherence to a set of ethical principles during each of the procedural steps set for research, including credibility, honesty, confidentiality and accuracy of information.

It also implies respecting the rights of all stakeholders, whether they are researchers, participants, or investors.

Although the debate generally focuses on bioethics, for instance in relation to cloning and embryo research, scientific research ethics covers all fields and disciplines.

Indeed, it concerns the scientific community as a whole since it represents the researcher's values regardless of one's scientific specialization, nationality, or position.

Furthermore, it concerns the controls that must be respected while preparing a scientific research in order to solve problems in an objective way that enhances results and achieves scientific benefit.
