The study aimed at reviewing one of the recent trends in international shipping services, namely, sustainable shipping, as an imperative imposed by the reality on the countries of the world, including developing States, in view of the significant contribution of this sector to international trade and global markets on the one hand, and the implications Severe negative impacts on the environment, energy and climate change, on the other hand, as a result of its excessive dependence on fossil fuels, as well as the study's rationale for the transition to sustainable shipping in developing countries and the various effects of the transition.

The study found that the challenge now for all countries of the world, including developing countries, is to promote and foster sustainable transport policies, while the importance of this shift is even more important for developing countries that have the opportunity from the beginning to choose the path of sustainable development.
