This study aims to clarify the limits of the right of hot pursuit, which is the right of the coastal State to drive a foreign vessel from its waters to the high seas, which has violated its laws and regulations under the conditions stipulated in the Convention on the 1982 law of the sea.

Among the findings, it is necessary to resort to the possibility of modifying article 111 to make the prosecution provisions more flexible, by replacing the current binding standards with more flexible functional standards.
