Abstract EN

The study aimed to identify the factors that lead to the wife's silence on the husband's betrayal, and to reveal the effect of that silence on family stability in Palestinian society.

the research community consisted of husbands and wives.

To achieve the objectives of the study, the social survey methodology was adopted in the sample, and the questionnaire was adopted as a main tool for collecting data after verifying its validity and consistency, They were applied to a sample of (988) respondents, and they were chosen In the cluster random sampling method.

The results were analyzed using descriptive statistical methods, and the data were processed by the SPSS statistical program.

The study reached a set of results as following: The effects of the social, personal and economic factors on wife's silence regarding to their husband's betrayal in total was of a medium degree.

The social factors were in the first place in term of the relative importance with a mean of (3.

22), followed by the economic factors of the relative importanc with a mean of (3.

19), and finally, The personal factors were in the last ranks of the relative important with a mean of (3.

05) regarding to the wife's silence on the husband's betrayal in Palestinian society.

The results also showed statistically significant effect of the wife's silence on the husband's betrayal on threatening family stability in the Palestinian society, with a mean of (3.

21).

Based on the results, the researcher came up with a number of recommendations: Conducting more studies on the role of social factors in imposing women to keep silent on her husband's betrayal and the role of this silence on women behavior deviation towards crime.

Empowering women economically by providing them jobs opportunities by the Ministry of Social Affairs especially when they reveal their husband's betrayal and depredated from their income sources.

Making amendments on the social and legal rights of wives, who are subjected to betrayal by their husbands, in order to support them to break out the circle of silence imposed on them, because this kind of wife's silence will be destructive, which will reflect negatively on their psychological health and their family functions.
