Abstract EN

This study deals with the events of the clash and armed conflict between the Safavid state and the Ottoman Empire during the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries AD, which cast a harsh shadow over Iraq; because it is the border meeting point between the two countries, so Iraq has become the field of conflict between them and the point of attraction for the continuing ambitions of Persian expansionism in the Ottoman lands, Iraq had incurred during this conflict Cruel sacrifices of lives, as well as numerous losses in lands and properties, and their effects still remain hardwired in the border between Iraq and Iran.

During the course of that conflict, the two countries concluded several treaties, the most important of these treaties was the Treaty of Zuhab,and Its significance is that it became the basis on which the subsequent border treaties between Iraq and Iran were built , where the importance of this research lies in the fact that it sheds light on an influential historical period in the history of Iraq, It presents the historical roots of Persian ambitions in Iraq and its environs
