Abstract EN

this research aims to investigate the augmented preposition of Arabic.

It aims at enclosing the augmented prepositions, explaining the purpose of adding them and describing the viewpoints of Arab grammarians.

The research uses an applied descriptive methodology to explore two main aspects.

The first is the faithfulness of augmented preposition and the second is augmented prepositions and their applications.

It is concluded that augmented prepositions of Arabic are: mɪn [‘in’ من ,[bɪ [‘with’ الباء ,[lɪ [‘for’ الالم ,[and kɑ [‘as’ الكاف .[ The preposition mɪn ‘in’ منis added as an augmented preposition with syntactic subjects, objects, the topics (المبتدأ (of nominal sentences and with the negating particle mɑɑ [‘no, no’ ما [that works, according to Hijazi syntacticians, like the hollow verb [lɑɪsɑ ‘no, not’ ليس .[As for the preposition lɪ [‘for’ الالم ,[it is added to: the subject of the verb kɑfɑ [‘is enough’ كفى ,[the subject of ɑfʕɑl [the verb pattern for exclamation’ أفعل [and with the topic and the direct object of questions, and the object of lɑɪsɑ and mɑɑ.

lɪ [‘for’ الالم [is added between the transitive verb and its direct object and between the words of construct states.

Finally, kɑ [‘as’ الكاف [is almost always added as an augmented preposition with the word mɪθl [‘like’ مثل.[
