This research aims to define the meaning of collecting the Qur'an in lingual and scientific terminology, what it meant for Muslim scholars, documenting the efforts of the early collectors, as well as explaining the position of ibn Masoud regarding that, then to investigate ibn Masoud's opinion on the act of the collection.

and so, i have reached these important results : the writing of the Qur'an went through three different eras, Abu Bakr’s collection was the true sense of what collecting the Qur'an meant, while 'Uthman's collection was the approved one, to ensure ibn masoud's stance regarding 'Uthman's collection, and clarifying the misconception of this subject, he didn't memorize his Moshaf and didn't ask to do so, and never mentioned proof of Basmallah at the beginning of al-Bara'ah.

and he did not write al-Fatiha because his intention was to collect what he feared to be lost.

scholars have opinions on his rejection to the Mu'awwidhatayn where the strongest opinion is the acceptance of the transmissions with correction, then mentioning the evidences regarding his retracting to the opinion of the majority at the end.
