The women's quota system is a proportion set for women determined by national constitutions to participate in elections based on women's political rights stipulated in international covenants.

for the first time, it was adopted by the 2005 Iraqi constitution and the successive electoral laws that set it at no less than 25% to enable women to reach parliament.

the research aims to define the women's quota system and the legal impact on women's actual participation in the Iraqi parliament.

the women's quota system is vital to achieve actual equality with men who have long dominated the political process in the state.

in a conclusion to the just mentioned, their effectiveness in political decision-making is still limited, so we recommend expanding the participation of women by the political authority and parties by adjusting the participation rate to more than 25%.

on this basis, the research was divided into two sections.

the first topic included the concept of women's quota in international conventions and its legal basis.

the second topic involved the effect of the women's quota on enabling women to participate effectively in the Iraqi parliament.
