Gender difference in the dialogue of George Bernard shaw's arms and the man

Abstract EN

Gender difference is one of the contemporary literary issues in postmodernist criticism.

However, few linguistic studies have thrown light on it, especially, discourse analysis of gender difference.

The research is concerned with the gender difference in the dialogue of George Bernard Shaw’s Arms and the Man.

It aims at investigating this gender difference through analyzing the techniques of the dialogue of the play: speech acts, implicatures, cooperative principal, and cohesion.

The research mainly concludes that the contrastive ideas contextually express the theme of war in the dialogical discourse of the play from two different stances: the feminist stance and the masculine one.
