Abstract EN

The Ottoman period is a very important period in the history and civilization of Algeria in the urban sphere, and many buildings have been left to us, including civil buildings, which come in the forefront of residential architecture such as houses and palaces, Which consists of architectural and artistic units and elements.

Among the architectural elements, we find entrances, windows and means of support such as pillars and columns in addition to arches, and we add to them the elements of roofing and transition.

The architectural elements of dwellings in Algeria during the Ottoman era were a mixture in their composition and formation between local traditions and influences coming with the Ottomans, however, local traditions were more predominant and strongest presence due to several factors and considerations.
