Abstract EN

This research questions the feasibility of film studies, not for giving answers, but with the aim of wanting to understand why this question arises every time? Is it because the answers provided by the film studies are not sufficient, or because the feasibility of these studies is not clear? And it leads to the validity of the second possibility, so it tries, in a second step, to investigate the reasons for the non-clarification of the feasibility of these studies to dwell on the fact of adopting the style of the significant form by researchers on small-volum film categories has fragmented their scientific discourse and hindered its transmission in didactic, cultural and media circles, which has made it difficult to reach the different strata of society.

And finally the study proposes the method of significant category in order to analyze filmic categories of large volumes which makes it possible to link the scientific to the societal.
