Abstract EN

Within this comparative study, I have highlighted the scenography which is an important element in drama employed in both theater and cinema.

Scenography is a visual discourse and an aesthetic visual translation of written and spoken discourse in cinema and theater, regardless of its use in both fields.

However, each of them has its own peculiarities that make it unique from the other, despite their commun essence.

The scenography is an effective element that gives meaning to the presented show and gives it an aesthetic and special elegance to form an enjoyable space for the dramatic work by coordinating the various scenographic elements (decor, accessories, audio-visual effects, ...) and thus according to the requirements of the show.

The aim is to influence the recipient and to incite him to use his imagination and to ask aesthetic and realistic questions that enable him to decipher the codes and signs included in the theatrical performance or in the cinematic movie.

As an example, we made a comparative study regarding the use of scenography in the movie Hamlet, written by William Shakespeare and directed by Franco Zeffirelli; as well as the same play 'Hamlet' presented by the Egyptian 'Studio Actor' and directed by Mohamed Sobhi.

we have studied and analyzed the functionality of scenography between the movie and the play willing to show the similarities and ty the differences between the artificial scenography and the natural one and the scope of their use between the theatrical scene and the film shot.
