Abstract EN

I aim through this study to identify the most important reasons that made short vowels a major problem facing specialists in the field of Arabic electronic lexicon, and to define possible solutions to overcome these challenges ; i chose the descriptive method to describe the characteristics of these sounds.

the study concluded two most important reasons : Arabic short vowels are not located in the context of a horizontal sequence such as consonants, and they affect in the meaning of words, which change by changing their positions, what is known “phonetic interference”, which often produce “semantic ambiguities”.

scientists and researchers have tried to find solutions to this problem, by training the automated system on a large Arabic language repertoire, formulating mathematical equations and employing classifiers to solve them, but this was not enough to avoid the machine semantic confusion.
