Abstract EN

In the aftermath of September 11, 2001, the American security strategy witnessed deep changes through adopting an inclusive security approach in order to counter terrorism.

This study attemps to shed light on its security strategy in the Maghreb region, which is particularly important because of its strategic location, in addition to the emergence of new threats, the spread of terrorism group, and instability in this region.

All these factors led the USA to adopt new approaches in order to protect its interests.

The problem addressed by this study focuses on the reason of changing the American strategy towards the Maghreb region.We concluded that this change was imposed by the need to adapt to new threats.
