Abstract EN

The proposed paper entitled «the Halaka in the Azzaba system : the historical cradle and the symbolic structures», suggests a reading of the “Halaka in the Azzaba system” from its very foundation in the first centuries till its wane, in the Djerbian context.

the article gives a two-fold perspective : a critical analysis of the founding Ibadhi texts of Darjini (670 AH / 1271 AD) and Barradey (810 AH / 1407 AD) and a reading of the ulterior orientalist artifacts, trying to explore both their implicit meanings and symbolic structures.

no doubt, therefore, that approaching the founding Ibadhi texts suffice to unfold the originality of the concept of Halaka and the circumstances of its formation.

the article, thus, endeavors to showcase the cradle in which the notion of “Halaka” was born and how it was developed, via examining the daily practices including the dress code, the food rituals, and the order laws and rules for the Azzeba Halaka system, while seeking to unveil its symbolic structures and the cultural meanings of collective consciousness and unconsciousness likewise.
