This article examines the discourse of madness, and seeks to reveal its semantic functions in the novel of the Tunisian writer Mohsen Bin Haniyeh, tagged : ports of madness, a narrative modernist adventure, which bets on experimentation, through its representation of the speech of madness, and its work on its unlimited potential.

the discourse of madness appeared in the chosen novel, an intellectual and artistic necessity, which enabled the narrator to explore the crazy self, reveal its interior, and capture the shadows of things in the tired cavities of her memory, so her madness was an exceptional space for the discharge of self, national and human concern, and an effective means of criticizing bad reality.
