Abstract EN

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the orthography competence by first-year college students.

this evaluation is done after a teaching/learning process based on the competency approach, by which the knowledge acquired through all language activities is integrated for the production of a text.

to achieve this goal, students are asked to produce texts in an integrative context which is meaningful to them.

written productions are then analyzed according to two criteria : the correct use of writing rules and the good use of punctuation.

the choice of these two criteria is due to the fact that they are used in assessing students' level of performance and learning.
