The aim of this paper is to examine the role of OPEC in controlling (or influencing) oil prices in global markets, In light of the energy transition that the world is witnessing, with the increasing reliance on renewable and alternative energy sources, using econometric methods and descriptive analytical approach.

We concluded that the influence of OPEC was and still exists, especially in light of the organization's expansion into OPEC + with the accession of Russia.

but this influence can be reduced by increasing reliance on alternative energy sources, especially renewable ones.
