رأي الشيخ الشعراوي (رحمه الله)‎ (ت ١٤١٩ هـ)‎ في الشبهات المثارة حول مهر المرأة

Women’s issues are among the most controversial issues in the intellectual and political community in the Arab world, and among these issues is the issue of the woman’s dowry, which was not without suspicion, and the secularists entered on the one hand that it is a purchase for women, and that it is given to her as a price for her possession; to turn the woman away from Islam and establish in her view that it has detracted from her, in order to get her out of her religion, so they demanded the abolition of the dowry; to pursue men like the women of the west, one of whom pays money to the man she wishes to marry, and our eminent scholars have ensured that such suspicions are answered, including Sheikh Muhammad Metwally al-Shaarawy "may god have mercy on him", who authored many books concerning women, I mentioned his opinion on this suspicion in detail in this research, and i also included some of the sayings of Muslim thinkers, in order to reach at the conclusion of the research to invalidate the statements of the enemies of Islam, and that Islamic law honored women and raised their status with this dowry
