Abstract EN

This study aims to measure the impact of the social subsidy policy on the public budget deficit in Algeria during the period 2006-2022, using a multiple linear regression model.

the collected data were processed by the SPSS 25 program.

the study found several distortions in the mechanism of implementing the social subsidy policy, both in terms of cost and even the percentage of targeting the groups concerned with support.

this deviation deepened the gap of drained leakages outside the circle of exploitation and the expansion of the public budget deficit throughout the study period.

it also recognized the need to review decisions about resource allocation and income distribution in a way that ensures economic efficiency and social equality in light of the lack of the requirements of transition from generalized subsidy to targeted subsidy.
