Abstract EN

The issue of waste management has received a lot of attention from the Algerian legislator, especially at the municipal level, as it is a decentralized body whose task is to manage citizens' affairs closely, where the mayor contributes to the conduct of household waste in the light of the presence of legal texts, of a legislative and organizational nature, defining his terms of reference in the field of hygiene and public cleanliness.

This study aims to show the role of the mayor in the management of household waste, and the appropriateness of his competencies.

It is not as well possible to overlook legal loopholes that limit the effectiveness of his basic roles.
