The study examines the effectiveness of employing interactive video to develop programming skills in the design of smart phone applications among the teachers of technology in Gaza.
the study problem was identified using the following main question : what is the effectiveness of employing interactive video to develop programming skills in the design of smart phone applications among the teachers of technology in Gaza ? to answer this question, the researcher built the study tools, which include an observation card of the programming skills using the program (app inventor), which consists of (64) paragraphs divided into (6) aspects, in addition to a product evaluation card to design educational applications on smart phones, which consists of (34) paragraphs divided into (4) aspects.
to ensure the validity of these tools, the researcher presented them to specialists in this field.
the researcher used a quasi-experimental approach for a group of 15 teachers who teach technology subject in governmental schools.
after conducting the experiment and applying its tools, the researcher collected the data and analyzed them statistically using the appropriate statistical methods, which include a t-test for two linked samples, eta-square (η^2) and Blake's modified gain ratio to examine the effectiveness of interactive video, and a t-test applied for one sample to measure the sample’s mastery of the level of proficiency specified by the study.
the study results show that there are statistically significant differences at (α = 0.05) in the performative programming skills of the technology teachers before and after the experiment, and there are statistically significant differences at the level of (α = 0.05) in the assessment card of smart phone applications among teachers of technology before and after the experiment.
based on the results of the study, the researcher recommends using the interactive video within the integrated electronic environments in the university education system and teacher training programs, and to concentrate on using it in order to develop various forms and types of skills.
the study also encourages teachers to use the interactive video as one of the e-learning tools and to consider the (app inventor) program as an effective tool in developing the programming skills of teachers and students.
