Abstract EN

This paper aims to recognize the teaching competencies required for male and female teachers of sociology in intermediate and secondary school from their point of view.

the following points divaricate from the question above : 1-recognizing the teaching competencies required for male and female teachers of sociology in intermediate and secondary schools according to the parameter of gender at the center of ash-Shamiyah city, province of al-Qasisiyah, republic of Iraq.

2-organizing the teaching competencies in terms of their importance in the viewpoint of the individuals of the research sample.

to achieve the aim of the paper, the researcher chose 500 male and female teachers of sociology in intermediate and secondary schools, morning and evening studies, in ash-Shamiyah city for the academic year 2017-2018.

20% of the research sample was chosen arbitrarily and geographically.

the research sample consists of 100 male and female teachers.

the researcher sent an open questionnaire to a chosen sample which consisted of 50 individuals of experts, supervisors and teachers.

the researcher also put the tool of research which was represented by a list of the required teaching competencies which consisted of 7 magazines affiliated under which 70 items.

the research concluded that the domain of competences in conducting the lesson likely reached (19.190) and the relative importance reached 82.543%.

when the significance of the differences was tested between score averages of males and females using T-test, it was found out that the calculated T-value equals 10.94.

when it was compared to the tabular value which reached 1.99 at a significance level of 0.05 and a Freedom degree of 98, it was turned out that the calculated T-value is bigger than the tabular T-value.

in other words, there are significant differences between the score averages of males and females in the required teaching competences and in favor of the males.

in light of these findings, the researcher recommended holding habilitation and development courses which contribute in increasing the extent of teaching competences at male and female teachers of sociology.
