The electronic environment plays a prominent role in creating and rumours and supporting those responsible for it, due to the easy accessible services it provides, which has increased their seriousness.

Our study came to shed light on the impact of electronic rumours on individuals and societies and their role in misleading and directing public opinion, by showing their repercussions caused by cyberspace on public opinion.

The study concluded that the rates of electronic rumour spread are directly proportional to the progress in information and communication technologies and the spread of the use of social media and networks.

The electronic rumour has become one of the most dangerous weapons that threaten society in terms of its value and symbols, as its danger may sometimes exceed the tools of power that are used in political conflicts between states.
