The postage stamp, as a tiny two-dimensional sticker, was the focus of much multidisciplinary research.
Being an iconotextual discourse, the postage stamp by its iconography, has been the subject of study of several semiological analyses.
However, the postal text did not take a chance of being analyzed in a sociolinguistic approach to the choices of languages used in its space, to justify their use, especially in a multilingual country such as Algeria.
That is why we have taken the trouble in this article to analyze the linguistic identity in the Algerian postage stamp.
Our objective is to verify the politico-linguistic management of successive governments in the country after independence until 2018 in the postage stamp.
The results of the analysis demonstrated that the postage stamp instead of being a mirror of the linguistic identity and a true reflection of the Algerian sociolinguistic reality, it is indeed the mirror of linguistic policies taken from the reigning power.

Le timbre-poste, une vignette minuscule bidimensionnelle qui était le centre d'intérêt dans nombreuses recherches multidisciplinaires.
Etant un discours iconotextuel, le timbre-poste, par son iconographie, a fait l'objet d'étude de plusieurs analyses sémiologiques.
Toutefois, le texte postal n'a pas pris chance d'être analysé dans une approche sociolinguistique vis-à-vis des choix des langues utilisées dans son espace, de justifier leur emploi, surtout dans un pays plurilingue notamment l'Algérie.
C'est pourquoi nous avons pris la peine d'analyser, dans cet article, l'identité linguistique dans le timbre-poste algérien.
Notre objectif est de vérifier la gestion politico-linguistique des gouvernements s'étant succédés dans le pays après l'indépendance jusqu'à 2018 dans le timbre-poste.
Les résultats de l'analyse ont démontré que le timbre-poste au lieu d'être un miroir de l'identité linguistique et véritable reflet de la réalité sociolinguistique algérienne, il est bel et bien le miroir des politiques linguistiques prises le pouvoir régnant.
