The marriage contract is of great importance due to its position in human life, so it is necessary to wait for a period of reflection, which is the preliminary stage at the beginning of this project and what is called the engagement, and one of its objectives is to ensure the satisfaction of both parties and their desire to complete this contract or not and their eligibility for it.

Engagement is a promise of marriage.

It does not transcend to become a contract between two parties, as it is just a commitment that does not produce a judicial effect as a rule, unless an alteration occurs that causes harm to one of the parties.

Here it is permissible to compensate the aggrieved party, unlike marriage, which is considered a thick pact and a sacred contract once it is concluded; it can only be done by providing elements that embody the elements and conditions in it, to produce effects and results for both parties and others.
