English Abstract
Wireless communication system requires higher data rate and more robust transmission link between source and destination against noise and multi-path fading effect, while keeping good quality of service.
Cooperative communication systems utilizing OFDM are considered an ef-fective technology to enhance the system performance.
By tacking advantages of cooperative diversity utilizing relays, this thesis investigates the performance of cooperative system with coded OFDM over two types of cooperative protocol such as Decode and Forward (DF) and Amplify and Forward (AF), using two types of combining methods which is Equal Gain Combining (EGC) and Maximum Ratio Combining (MRC) utilizing Hierarchical modulation.
The main objective of this work is to integrate the Hierarchical Modulation (HM) with cooperative communication focusing on unequal degradation of the two data streams transmitted on direct link between source and destination and in-direct link through relay.
For a relay network with one source, one relay and one destination the BER performance is investigated when cooperative system employ HM over Rayleigh fading channel with OFDM system.
Simulation results showing that, the suggested model using HM achieves a significant gain about 3 dB compared to the reference system (Cooperative system).
