Asylum is one of the complex crises dealt with by public international law in its various branches, and through this article we wanted to shed light on this phenomenon, in terms of the problems raised by the various concepts and definitions that are used in the study of this phenomenon, and its distinction in terms of narrowing and expansion according to The context in which it is presented, as well as according to the party that wants to address the phenomenon, the definitions and their problems differed from the 1951 Refugee Convention to the 1967 Protocol, through the 1969 African Union Convention, as well as international humanitarian law agreements, as well as the international judiciary's view of this phenomenon, in addition to the Mechanisms designed to protect them.
