This research studies the meanings of defining and non-defining according to Sheikh Ibn Ashour (d: 1393H) in his interpretation “Al-Tahrir wa Al-tanwir”, the study aims to determine the significance of the defining and non-defining of the interpretation of the meaning for Ibn Ashour.

It also aims to represent the most important meanings of interpretations of definite and indefinite through his book.

The study also includes an introduction to Sheikh Ibn Ashour and his book.

One of the most important results of the study is that defining or non-defining the word has significance in every position according to the context of the speech.
