Abstract EN

Dictionaries are among the most important resource books that our ancient and modern scholars have been keen on.

They have taken great care of their methodologies, arrangements, and characteristics.

Among the dictionaries that assumed the foremost place in the Arab Heritage, Taj Al-Lugha (Language Crown), Sihah Al- Arabia (Sound Arabic Lexicons) by Al-Johari, Lisan Al-Arab (Arabic Language) by Ibn Manzur, and Al-Qamous Al Mouheit (the Encompassing Dictionary) by Fayrouzabadi.

This thesis is a study and investigation of the traces of Abu Nasr Al-Hurini Al- Fayrouzabadi in Al-Qamous Al Mouheit(the Encompassing Dictionary), so there is a classification of the chapters that arranged by alphabetical order from which chapters have been allocated.

However, the twenty-eight letters of Arabic Language that represent the title of chapters, have not been completed, which are (Al-Dha'a, Al-Sad, Al- Dhad, Al-Zay, Ta', Al-Shin, Al-Ha', Kha, Al-Sein, Al-Ain, Al-Qaf, Al-Kaf, A-Dal, Al-Ta, Al-Fa).

Then he probed the language alone and introduce the compiler of Al-Qamous Al Mouheit (the Encompassing Dictionary).

He also mentioned the issues that pertain to the dictionary, including classifying words based on their roots to distinguish between words that use the vowel letter (Waw) from those use the vowel letter (Yaa), not mentioning plural of subject with the letter (Ein) vowel with the associated verb unless it comes in concord with the linguistic context, not mentioning the female subject after reference to the male gender, but it is replaced by the pronoun "she".

When he refers to the infinitive, it is bare infinitive, or it is used as a pasttense verb alone.

The present tense is indicated by the (o) sound, for otherwise pronunciations, the (a) sound is used.

When mentioning the plurals and adjectives, he prioritizes measured weights.

Then, Al-Horini concluded his explanation of pronunciation of the present tense and standardization of its phonology.
