Abstract EN

Interest increased in distance education has increased in developed countries and many developing countries, to become part of their education systems because of the strengths they possess that can contribute to advancing economic and social development, this stemmed from the global interest in this type of education because of the tremendous developments that have occurred in the field of information and communication technology, and because of the urgent need to update the skills of working human cadres on the other hand.

Western and Arab countries, including Algeria, have known this type of education with the introduction of the Internet and its availability for institutions and individuals to use for social and educational purposes, and this despite some of the difficulties they faced, especially technical difficulties and material and human difficulties, however, these countries were able to go through this experience to advance the education sector, achieve sustainable development and keep pace with development.

Accordingly, this research paper aims to know the importance of distance education and to know some of the leading global models in it, and to shed light on the Algerian experience, with a focus on the most important difficulties it has faced and to present the most important proposals to keep pace with developed countries in this field.
