The Holy Qur’an addresses the human mind and calls for contemplation, it is a book of persuasion, not a book of compulsion, and it used mechanisms to persuade the addressees, in this research paper, we tried to answer the following question: what are the linguistic and rhetorical mechanisms that the noble Qur’an used to achieve the purpose of persuasion, and how were these mechanisms employed? in this paper, I dealt with the call of the Qur’an to reflect and use the mind, and talked about the Qur’anic discourse and persuasion, as well as the terms used by the Holy Qur’an to denote persuasion, then I studied in selected models a set of linguistic and rhetorical mechanisms that the Holy Qur’an used in persuasion, and in the conclusion of the research I mentioned the results I reached, including that the Qur’anic discourse is a discourse of persuasion calling for the use of arguments and proofs away from the methods of coercion, the Holy Qur’an begged to achieve persuasion through a number of linguistic and rhetorical mechanisms such as reasoning, conditional, oath, metaphor, representation, and others.
