This study aims to clarify the nature of the relationship between the environment and sustainable development through international, regional and national texts, in addition to highlighting the most important requirements to enable the achievement of sustainable environmental development.

Based on the extrapolation of international, regional and national texts concerned with the environment and sustainable development, we concluded that the relationship between these two concepts is considered a complementary relationship that appears through their interdependence that has been strengthened by the recognition of international and national law for each of them without separating them; In addition, embodying the environmental dimension of sustainable development constitutes a basic guarantee for the protection of the environment and the sustainability of its resources, through what is required to provide the ecosystem with maintenance that allows its sustainability and to address various environmental problems that threaten its stability and continuity of productivity.
