This research aims to discuss the establishment of Sharjah air station in 1932 as the first airport in the Arabian gulf and the reasons for choosing Sharjah instead of other emirates.

the research also draws on the discussions that took over a year between the ruler of Sharjah, sheikh sultan bin Sagr al-Qasimi 1924-1951, and the political resident in the gulf, sir Hugh Biscoe, as well as the role played by the British political agent at Kuwait, Dickson.

the establishment of the airport had helped Sharjah economy and offered some services for the emirates as well as for the trucial states, including services such as the wireless station, mail delivery, and the transport of merchants to India and Bahrain.
