Abstract EN

This study endeavors to explore the concept of (Collective Obligations) from the perspective of Imam al-Shatibi.

It follows an inductive and comparative methodology.

It concludes that al-Shatibi had built up a precise concept of the term reconciling between collective obligations that involve the interest of the entire Muslim nation and mandatory tasks addressed to the individuals at the same time.

He opined that a collective obligation is addressed specifically to someone who can achieve the interests of that obligation on behalf of the whole nation; therefore, he should have the qualifying attribute which enables him to realize the purposes.

However, others who are not able to achieve the purposes of that action should enable the qualified persons and cooperate with them to remove the hardship and help in realizing the purpose.

A continuous care should be maintained by each attached individual until everybody can easily see that those qualified Muslims performed the task in due attention, cared for public interests, and duly were aware of the objectives of the law.
