Abstract EN

This study aims to elucidate the foundations of the concept of ma’alat al-af’al (Consideration of the Outcomes of Deeds) in Imam Al–Juwayni’s works, and to explore its applications in the financial policy of the state through his book Ghiyath Al-Umam, using a comparative-inductive and deductive approach.

The study concludes that Al–Juwayni’s writings on sharia objectives indicate his consideration of the outcomes as well as his reference to the preservation of interests and prevention of evils as reflected in the attention he gives to the concept of deeds outcomes.

This concept was clearly presented in his book Ghiyath Al-Umam; whilst the Imam's contemporaries chose to conservatively talk about public policy provisions.

Al–Juwayni raised this issue openly and wrote about matters related to the state's foreign and domestic affairs, including financial issues.

He ensured that the public treasury should be kept rich in both the time of prosperity and the time of hardship; therefore, the state can sometimes impose taxes upon things and financially-capable elite to meet this objective and ensure the security of the nation.
