Abstract EN

In this thesis, I sought to reveal the aspects of the critical approach adopted by Imán Al-Nawawi in his book al-Majmu' Sharh al-Muhadhab.

I opened this thesis with a preamble about the Imam and his academic status.

The dissertation includes three chapters through which I attempted to explain the concept of jurisprudential criticism, its types and purposes.

I concluded the thesis with the practical part where I outlined the tools used by the Imam in his criticism.

I also drew on the tools the Imam used in his critical practice.

Through close study of Al-Nawai’s criticism and its different types, we revealed his extensive efforts to serve Shafi‘i School.

I also showed his careful handling of this school in terms of correction and evaluation by using his notable juristic mind, as he worked properly and expertly following an integrated method.
