The science of Ilal is concerned with uncovering the mysterious and hidden reasons that spoil hadith, despite its sound appearance.

The field of the science of Ilal is narration, especially hadiths narrated by the trustworthy.

The book of Imam Muslim "Al-Tamyiz" is one of the most important and earliest books of Ta’leel.

He wrote it in response to the demand of some commentators, as he stated.

It deals with examples of hadiths of the trustees in which they made mistakes and delusions.

But before he began to narrate examples of hadiths in which the trustees made mistakes, Imam Muslim provided a useful, rich introduction which reflected the conditions of his time, and in which he showed why he needed to explain the reasons for invalidating the hadiths of the trustees after he knew the condemnation of this by some ignorant people, as he described them.

He explained the objective scientific rules the imams have used to discredit those hadiths.

This research is an attempt to extrapolate the introduction of the book "Al- Tamyiz" and extract the rules of Taaleel referred to by Imam Muslim.

It answers the question: “what are the basic principles and rules of the science of Ilal?” which Imam Muslim included in his introduction and believed that it is necessary for everyone who wanted to understand this science to learn.

To answer this question, the analytical descriptive approach and the inductive method were followed.

The research concluded by summarizing these rules and showing their importance in understanding the science of Ilal, in addition to coming up with several recommendations.
