English Abstract

Lead Sulphide (PbS) thin films have been fabricated by spray pyrolysis technique on glass substrates using lead acetate and thiourea as Pb and S source respectively.

The effect of substrate temperature in the range (150-350) °C on structural and optical properties of PbS thin films is reported.

XRD studies show that the peaks of the grown films refer to the PbS with a cubic structure and a preferential orientation along the (2 0 0) plane.

The optical studies revealed that the films are good absorber with a direct band gap in the range of (1.85-2.1) eV and transmittance below 50%.

Others optical parameters such as refractive index and extinction coefficient were also investigated.

The study indicated that the high crystalline obtained for the films deposited at substrate temperature of 300oC.
