The research aims to know the reality of applying the corporate governance model in higher education institutions in Algeria.

to achieve this goal, the “descriptive and analytical” approaches were followed, in addition to the “content analysis” approach to know the reality of the characteristics or mechanisms of applying the governance model in higher education institutions in Algeria, this is done by analyzing the various documents and circulars issued by the ministry of higher education and scientific research, as well as the executive decrees and ministerial decisions issued in the official journal of the Algerian republic.

the research concluded that the institutional governance model for higher education institutions in Algeria is not well defined, and there is no clear pattern for it.

it is a mixed model or a mixture between the collegial model and the managerialism model.
