Abstract EN

The main goal of this research is to identify the concept of cyber-bullying in social media networks from the perspective of Saudi women.

it also aims to address the motives and causes of such bullying in social networks.

a third goal is to identify the areas of cyber-bullying in social networks.

the researcher utilized the social survey method to collect the required data through a questionnaire.

the sample size consisted of 788 individuals from all university faculties.

the research reveals that the majority of the respondents have a high awareness of cyber-bullying.

it also showed that the percentage of motives and personal causes is average.

furthermore, the most the survey revealed that the highest areas of cyber-bullying was regarding physical appearance followed by criticism of the daily life content posted by women on social media.

the research indicates that there is a necessity to raise a high level of public awareness of bullying practices as illegal according to cyber-crime laws via all forms of media and the educational and academic sectors.

media campaigns must also be instituted to identify cyber-bullying, and expose the methods and results of such behavior, as well as revealing methods of confronting and preventing it.

recognition must be also raised though focusing awareness on the Islamic stance on bullying.

this can be done on a wide scale through utilizing Friday sermons, speeches, seminars, and conferences, clarifying how cyberbullying is contradicting Islamic teachings, morals, social conduct, and values, and recommending activating self-control and moral commitment to the individual when s / he is in cyberspaces.
