The study aimed to identify the intellectual issues and philosophical visions raised by the writers in their theatrical texts, and to reveal the direction of the two playwrights in their handling of the myth of Sisyphus, which each of them poses in his theatrical text (the research sample), while observing the similarities and differences between the text of the play torment under the sun.

Sisyphus” by the writer Essam Abdel Aziz, and the text of the play Sisyphus and death by the international writer Robert merle, and the study reached a number of results, the most important of which are: Robert merle was affected by existential philosophy, where he made Sisyphus a free person, with a will and entity, and able to achieve himself, he is aware of death, but he does not fear him, as he was affected by the absurd trend.

although Sisyphus has no point in escaping from death, the writer made absurdity an integral part of his life.

as for Issam Abdel Aziz, he was influenced by Alber kami’s philosophy in Sisyphus’ position between truth and illusion, as was Issam Abdel Aziz.

in the absurd direction, in fact, despite the presence of Sisyphus in an irrational world, he struggles to prove his existence through his rebellion, where he made the hope of fixing the rock on the mountain, which is his means to rebel against his destiny, because he realizes his fate.
