Abstract EN

The research events revolve around the Jordanian elections that were held in Jordan in 1956, specifically in the city of Jerusalem, one of the most important cities in the West Bank of the Jordan River and affiliated to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan after its accession to Transjordan and the formation of the Kingdom of Jordan on its two banks in 1950.

The research examined the conditions of the Jordanian parliamentary elections since 1950 in the presence of the Palestinian element that merged and became one unit with the people of Transjordan until 1956, as well as the motive factors for dissolving Parliament in June 1956, the status of the coalition parties in Jerusalem, and the Jordanian government's tendencies to prepare for elections during the month of June to October and the status of Jerusalem as a model for the most important city in the West Bank with a survey of the trends and programs of Jerusalemite candidates in the elections, the role of Egypt in Jerusalem in particular towards these elections and Jordan's reaction towards them, and finally the role of Jerusalemite representatives who won seats in the Jordanian Parliament elections.

This study will discuss the conditions of the Jordanian Parliament Since the accession of the West Bank of the Jordan River to Transjordan, following the elections of 1950, which is known as the annexation of the two banks, until the elections in question on October 21, 1956, in addition to the factors that prompted the dissolution of the Jordanian Parliament in June 1956, then the establishment of the allied parties in Jerusalem.
