An Archaeological Artistic Study of a Rare Quran Manuscript by the Persian Calligrapher Mohamed Al- Hakim Al-Tarkibi Al-Yazdi, first publishing, dated (855AH / 1451AD)

This research deals with an archaeological artistic study of a unique Qur'an written by the calligrapher Mohamed Al- Hakim Al-Tarkibi Al-Yazidi dated in 855AH/ 1451AD.

This manuscript is published and studied for the first time.

The study aims to shed light on one of the Persian calligraphers who excelled in writing in thuluth and Naskh script during the Timurid era; the calligrapher Al-Tarkibi Al-Yazidi, providing information about his life, date of death, and his calligraphic effects, as well as analyzing his artistic style in Naskh and Thuluth scripts through the study Qur'an.

The study also aims at reaching the technical school that the calligrapher followed in writing the Naskh script, with an attempt to compare his style of writing the Naskh script with the direct calligraphers before him, such as Al-Sayrafi and Yaqut Al-Musta'simi, and comparing the technical style of the Yazdi compositional calligrapher with some of the pioneers of calligraphy in the Ottoman era to find out who followed his path.

Moreover, it presents an analytical study of the lines and decorations added to the manuscript in the era of the Mohamed Ali dynasty.

This study also seeks to analyze the endowment of the Qur'an and the pillars and conditions of the endowment mentioned in it.

In this study, the researcher followed the historical method, which depends on description and analysis, as well as extrapolation of sources and references in order to achieve the objectives of this study.

One of the most prominent results of the study was that it showed the archaeological and historical value of the Qur'an under study, and it also clarified the artistic and writing style of the calligrapher Al-Tarkibi Al-Yazidi in writing this Holy Qur'an, reaching his technical school in writing Naskh script.
