This study aims to shed light on the ancient Iraqi writing in terms of its history of origin and stages of development that were usually associated with the development of sciences and literature, and which were also associated in its codification with the presence of an organized symbol that can be recognized, whether it is a letter or a sound.

In addition to the languages and dialects used in different civilizational ages.

Within the framework of this study, we also shed light on the second main axis that contributed to the formation of the identity of the ancient Iraqi book, which is the materials and tools in their various forms.

The study concluded that the most important characteristic of writing in ancient Iraq is the type of pen and the type of material that the ancient Iraqi used to make writing tablets.
