Abstract EN

The study analyzes how and why journalists employ online learning resources in developing newsroom competencies, including knowledge, skills, and attitudes.

It also describes the personal learning environments they have design, and measures to what extent they experiment with the characteristics of connective in learning, and its relationship to the dependency on online resources.

The results depict the components of the PLE including social networks, training platforms, websites, and blogs, through which journalists practice a set of digital learning activities in which the characteristics of connective were achieved in terms of independence, interaction, openness and gaining up-to-date knowledge.

the study found a correlation between connectivism and the degree of dependence on online learning resources, which was also related to digital skills.

On another hand, the study identified a set of competencies that digital resources were employed to develop including the knowledge of recent trends and models in newsrooms, developing news writing, and editing skills, as well as continuous learning values, flexibility, and time management and organizing tasks.
