Abstract EN

This paper is about interpreting and how it may make tanslating successful, especially when dealing with translating literature.

if it is commonly known that languages do not depict realty in the same way, literature as well represents the miror which reflects social living modes of communities, from which it borrows words and sentences, style and cultural signs.

therefore, in order to make literature move from one world to an other, translator have to go beyond the form and the content of the message to its idiomaticity, producing, by the way, the same impact on his receptor.

the sole way that may lead to this goal is understanding and interpreting; by transmitting the meant from the environment where the intial message was born to the target language, within quite the same communicative structure, taking in account semantic, esthetic and cultural features of the message.

so, chasing this issue, w've prefered to study the novel «sans famille» written by Hector Malot, from the French literture, translated by Silvana elKhori, insisting, by the way, on the act of interpreting and its impact on literary translatum.
