Open access is a concrete expression of the principle of free access to scientific publications, to confront the constant increase in the prices of scientific journals, to achieve a rapid flow of scientific information among researchers and to achieve a better visualization of the scientific literature This scientific movement in scientific publication and communication has been appreciated and has had great interest on the part of many writers, readers and educational and scientific institutions, insofar as it serves their established convictions and philosophy.

This movement has moved open access from ideas and proposals to institutional initiatives, legislated by laws and conventions, which has led it to confront other challenges that sometimes hold it back and sometimes support its progress.

This proposed scientific paper examines the most important open access points and the various challenges it faces at many levels.
