Abstract EN

This research is intended to define how Ibn Rushd influenced Christian thought by focusingon Thomas Aquinas who is one of the most Christian philosophers influenced by Ibn Rushd andtransmitted his views.

In achievement of this purpose, the researcher studied two important issuestransmitted by Aquinas from Ibn Rushd, namely the correlation between philosophy and religionand the proof of Allah's existence.

The researcher relied on the descriptive, analytical and historicalapproach.

The research concluded a set of significant results which include that there are different viewson how Ibn Rushd influenced Thomas Aquinas.

Many European writers think that the similarityof the views of Ibn Rushd and those of Aquinas are merely telepathy, but I do not think so.

Aquinaspresented some explanations and writings to refute the views of the Rushdites and Ibn Rushd.

Ideeply believe that Aquinas transmitted many views of Ibn Rushd due to being greatly influencedby him and he tried to adopt Ibn Rushd's views for the purpose of deducing a new Christian thoughtfrom them.

Hence and arguably, Ibn Rushd has played a significant influential role upon Christianthought regardless of the fact that the Europeans deny this role and strive to conceal the efforts ofIbn Rushd, and they even attributed these efforts to other thinkers and philosophers.

However, IbnRushd's views have been the focus of many Arab and Western thinkers and researchers.
