The purpose of this study is to identify the effectiveness of the PQ4R strategy in developing the reading comprehension skills among sixth-grade female students in the science course.
To achieve this objective, the study used the experimental approach, and the sixth-grade primary students in the city of Riyadh who study in public schools for the school year (1439-1440) identified the study community.
The study sample was intentionally selected by the sixth-grade female students with (48) students, (24) female students for the experimental group and (24) female students for the control group.
The study prepared seven of the reading comprehension skills for scientific texts, and the reading comprehension test was done for that.
The pretest and posttest was applied to the two study groups.
After the experiment, the statistical data were processed and the results showed that a positive impact of PQ4R's strategy in the development of reading comprehension in science.
In light of that, the study confirmed the need for science teachers to be interested in reading comprehension and recommended the use of PQ4R strategy to activate the role of female students in comprehension and learning processes
